Art has forced me to to really look carefully at things around me. Never have I been so aware of my surroundings. Often, I paint on site, adapting to the sun's movement, working quickly. I also paint from photographs that I take on my travels.
Returning to the studio, I attempt to recapture the excitement and emotions that I experienced in that time and place...the mountains and valleys of my home in Southwest Colorado and my new home in Northern California. This way, I am able to relive these experiences over and over again and share them with others.
For 25 years I was a clay artist. I then started painting with watercolors, pastels and acrylic paints. Now my path is leading me back into a sculptural depth by incorporating paint, collage materials, metals, glass and acrylic mediums.
